Toscana Wine Bar

Wine, cocktails and coffee in the heart of Prostějov.

/01Challenge

A bar that nobody would have to code for after launch.

Toscana Wine Bar is a hospitality venue in the heart of Prostějov built around a curated selection of wine, cocktails, and coffee, opened in 2024. But before the website could exist, the venue itself had to: a full year went into converting a bare vaulted room into the space that's there today. The owners run it without any technical staff — the site had to launch on schedule, and then keep working without a developer on call.

/02Concept

Warm, Tuscan, and legible in one scroll.

The design is built on a deep red (#b91c1c) against a dark charcoal (#111827) and a neutral grey (#4b5563) — the colour of wine, not of a restaurant chain. A hand-drawn Tuscan hillside illustration runs through the whole site as a recurring motif. The entire page is a single, mobile-first scroll: hours, menu, contact, and gallery are all one tap away, with nothing buried in a navigation menu.

/03Architecture

No server. No admin password to lose. Just git.

The site runs on Next.js and Tailwind CSS, statically generated and deployed on Vercel — fast, cheap, and with no server to patch or pay for. Content (hours, menu, photos) is managed through Decap CMS: a lightweight admin interface that writes changes straight to the site's git repository instead of a database. The owner edits a form, Decap commits it to git, and Vercel automatically rebuilds and redeploys. Nothing to hack, nothing to keep updated.

/05Result

A site that runs itself.

Toscana Wine Bar's owners now update hours, the menu, and photos themselves — no code, no waiting on a developer. There's no database to back up, no plugins to patch, and no server to renew.
